We are pleased to be one of the communities in Canada hosting the premiere of the new Music Video, “ Missing You” to help support and promote greater awareness of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women in both Canada and the United States.
This will be a free event held at the Comox Valley Community Art gallery at 580 Duncan Avenue Courtenay B.C. (250) 338 6211. The screening will take place between 12:00- 1:00 pm. We will be welcomed into the space by the Kumugwe Cultural Society who has played an integral role in promoting awareness in the Comox Valley.
In 2015 “Walking With Our Sisters Komoks”, opened its doors and 5000 guests experienced the powerful “Walking With Our Sisters Komoks” art installation. Through the concerted efforts of the IHOS Gallery, the Transition Society and the Kumugwe Cultural Society we were honoured to host WWOS Komoks on the traditional lands of the Komoks First Nation. In 2016 the same organizers joined together and created the “Red Dress Awareness” campaign, once again raising the awareness, in our community and outlying areas of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls of Canada and the United States. We continue today to honour and remember those women and girls.

“Missing You” by Joanne Shenandoah
Joanne Shenandoah is of the Oneida Frist Nations, Wolf Clan of the Haudenosaunee-Iroquoian Confederacy. She is a humanitarian, working as a peace advocate for earth justice and has captured the hearts of people from around the world. She has received recognition for her work to promote universal peace and understanding. Joanne is also a Grammy award winning singer songwriter
Since 1986 Dr. Shenandoah has been professionally providing traditional healing to the world through the gift of music. It is through this medium, which has brought her international recognition as a peace advocate throughout her career as well as a guardian for earth mother. Shenandoah illustrates the affect on the vibration of words, music and change for individuals, and community healthcare workers as well as victims of violence whether they be children, adults or elders. In a world filled with violence, the wisdom of elders can be carried to those yet unborn and provide a safer and healthier environment to all.
